The Women of Tokyo is a portrait project documenting women, both Japanese and foreign, who call the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, Japan their home.  In addition to sharing their environments with me, these women also shared their stories, visions, and experiences concerning the changing roles (and in some regards, the lack thereof) that women are currently facing in Japanese society.  Young and old, homemakers, businesswomen, widows, teachers, conservatives and liberals--the miscellany of personalities and ideas that they exude, both in their daily lives and in front of the camera, hopefully will contribute to the notion that being a woman in Japan, particularly in Tokyo, does not mean holding true to the docile stereotype that is so often easily applied.

To protect participants' online privacy, names, ages, occupations, and stories will only accompany the actual printed exhibition, which is currently being planned for the winter of 2015 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
